A few of my favorite details from MacKenzie’s wedding!

A few of my favorite details from MacKenzie’s wedding!

Cannot speak enough about how beautiful this wedding was!!! I was so lucky to have the privilege to shoot it!

I looove this moment when MacKenzie and her dad, Rick, are about to enter to church. MacKenzie look’s soo excited! And you can tell by Rick’s face that he may need another moment…. so sweet! He’s about to give away his Cinderella.

The love this shot!

INTRODUCING… MR. AND MRS. NEWKIRK!

Just a small glimpse of the preparation for MacKenzie’s big day!

This is such a beautiful shot of MacKenzie! I love that she doesn’t even have any makeup on and she still looks gorgeous! And the expression on her face speaks volumes…

The beautiful bridesmaides preparing for the big moment!

MacKenzies brother, Chaysen, just soaking in the moment.

And we can’t forget about the flower girls, Sophie and Ella along with the ring bearer, Brayden! They were such troopers and couldn’t help but show off some of their major dance moves!

I have to say that this post is dedicated to Morgan Beacham, not only the maid of honor, but an incredible makeup artist AND hairstylist to the bridesmaides! I am still in awe of her range of talents!!!!

Some shots from MacKenzie’s Bachelorette dinner at the yummy Little Dipper! If you haven’t been there, it’s worth the trip! Not only were the atmosphere and the food amazing, so was the company!!!

You have to check this out!
The photos below are of my roomates, Nicole and Scott and his girlfriend, Erin. I thought it would be a great idea to have these hanging in our new apartment!

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to shoot the 2nd annual Arts for Arts Hair Fashion Show which helps raise money for the organization Kids Making It.
Kids Making It is a non-profit organization that focuses on woodworking mentoring programs for at-risk youths. It is a place where our kids can successfully meet the world.
The Arts for Arts Hair Fashion Show was held at Elixir Bar and Lounge and hosted by Wilmington’s own Nsalo Salon! The fabulous creative minds from N Salo + the breathtaking wardrobe designed by Alexa Castillo made this benefit a night to remember. Here area few shots from this amazing evening!

Okay, so I am not the most photogenic person I know, and I don’t usually post photos of myself on the blog, but, this is a preview of some pictures I took for the new apartment. Yes it was like pulling teeth, but, here’s a sneek peak!
Just a few more photos that I love from Sean and Nikki’s “Love Story” session.

While adjusting my camera, Sean seceretly picked some wild flowers for Nikki. It was such a sweet move that I totally had to snap them.

Here is a small sample of the second half of the session with mother and daughter. They were both such troopers because it really started to get warm outside as the day progressed!

Poor Cheyenne was so tired by this time. But, selfishly, I was able to get a great shot!

Here are a couple of pictures I was blessed enough to take of one of my favorite families, The Tharpes! We headed down to one of the many beautiful places in Southern North Carolina, and the magic began. Here are a few pictures from our shoot.
Sophie, Ella and Deacon
I LOVE this photo. Bethany was twirling, and while doing so, Sophie and Ella watched their mom in awe. It wasn’t long before they joined in, and it was a beautiful and wild moment between a mother and her daughters, I was lucky enough to capture.

This blog. Oh, this blog.
It has not received any attention latley, and it is very overdue for a makeover. Luckily, there are only two or three of you at this point who even know of it’s existence. So, I have updated the banner, and in the next week or so, I will be adding more pages, war stories and SUPRISE! More work from a recent photo session.
And Im new to the whole blog thing. So please, if you have any ideas or suggestions, I will gratefully except any help. I ask, if you find me, stay with me. Watch this little project grow, flourish and evolve…
*If someone magically stumbles across this blog, and are interested in getting ahold of me for any reason, you can find my contact information on the link just below the new banner!
Peace to you,
Terry
This entry is dedicated to my beautiful sister Maria, her husband Kane, and their two babies, Carson and Harper. I hope you see a glimpse of the great beauty and mystery of your family.

I know why families were created with all their imperfections. They humanize you. They are made to make you forget yourself occasionally, so that the beautiful balance of life is not destroyed.

One of our final project’s for my photography class was to capture people in the midst of everyday life. These candid photos were taken without the people acknowledgements and in vulnerable form. Though, I finished the project, I couldn’t help but take a few of my friend Nicole and even snapped one of myself! Enjoy!
This man canoeing had the hardes time paddling! I felt so bad for him, but this photo makes him look like he knows what he’s doing!
Beautiful Nicole

About a week ago, I found these photos that I took during the Tharpe family photo session and couldn’t resist but to put them up.
A few photos from one of my favorite new couples, AJ and Leigh Anne!

“It’s only been a week, but I know that your mine to keep.”

To Whren and Lisa, who never fail at making people feel passionately loved. Thank you for your strong presence in my life and thank you for making me always feel that I am a little closer to God when Im with you both.

As any of you can tell, I have not been really blogging lately. I haaave tons of work that has been building up. Shoots, editing, sorting and posting is a little overwhelming right now!
But don’t give up! Keep checking back and I will have more photos up soon!
This is just a small peek at the things that are to come! Enjoy!
To a very sweet woman who helped me make sure that we got every angle possible in the Deas photoshoot. Thank you very much Tammy!

A few of my favorite shots from the new couple’s shoot!

We have enjoyed some very random weather here in Southeastern North Carolina the past couple of weeks. One day it will be raining and cool, then it will be warm and breezy, and then the next day, a chance for snow!
So we take advantage of every warm day we can get! My sister, Maria, brought my nephews (Carson and Harper) over and I was able to get a couple of shots! I completely forgot how much fun bubbles are!

There were just too many great shots! A few more photos of the two boys I love dearly! They were total troopers! Maybe because they’re so used to it by now.

I’m actually sitting down and taking the time to update since it’s been a while since I’ve really blogged. Alot of great things have been occuring within the past couple of months and I am looking foward to seeing what happens in the near future! Transitioning locations, transitioning jobs, transistioning churches and even seasons!
First of all, I recently moved into a new apartment in downtown Wilmington and am totally loving it! I moved maybe, twenty minutes away, yet it feels as though I’m in a completely different city. I’m blessed to be exposed to such diversity and am soaking it all up! Loving thy neighbor as thyself has taken on a whole new meaning for me and hope to see what it takes in myself to really live up to this demand. Keep me in your thoughts as I begin on this journey. I have decided to document the things that occur around me on a regular basis in hopes to bringing light to things that maybe you wouldn’t see otherwise. I will be posting these photos under “Community“.
Secondly, every year, Cape Fear Community College puts out an annual literary and arts magazine featuring the best work from it’s students from that school year. Out of the hundreds of photographers who submitted work, only three were chosen this 2008-2009 year. Last week, I was notified that my work was chosen! I was totally in shock (I mean, I had some pretty stiff competition). This is the first time my work will be published publicly! So next Thursday (April 23), there will be an unveiling of the magazine with our work and art on display for the whole student body to see! If your around the area, pick up one of annual Portal magazines and soak in the work of independent artist!
On the tailcoat of finding out that I was being published, I entered my photography into an art gallery that will be hosted by Cape Fear CC. Though, I’m confident my work can stand on it’s own, it will be judged by a Yale University art professor which is completely intimidating! Updates on how that goes will be coming later next week.
Lastly, I wanted the blogger world to know that I have booked four weddings, three engagement shoots and three “Love Story” shoots within the past five weeks! So come back soon for sneak peeks, “Community” shots, neighborhood updates and samples of all the photo shoots!

A couple of months ago, a group of volunteers from the city of Wilmington decided to count the number of homeless people who live in the area. The number, 416. 416 men and women who are without a place to call their home. Who’s survival is based solely on the compassion of others. The city predicts that this number will rise due to our economy’s recession.
The majority of these men and women become faceless to us. We decide that taking the time to get to know them is less important to us than what’s on our own agenda. We tell ourselves that interacting with “them” can be dangerous. If we decide to get to know them, we might start to feel something different towards them that might cause us to take action (and who has the time for that?). So we simply settle on stereotypes to feel better.
But I have found that the “drunks, the druggies and the lazy” become hurt, hungry and oppressed people who need love. Faces who need hope. How content we are to keep them hidden and unknown.
This photo (taken about a block away from where I live) was shot using my 35-55mm film camera.

I had an absolute blast with Sean and Nikki a couple of weekend’s ago after an invitation to come down to Sean’s farm to snap some photos. After traveling what felt like hours, I made my way down an old country road to Sean’s house and thus began the shoot. Here are a few of my favorite from the day.

I have known Jessica since she was three years old (I was six). She is one of my closest and dearest friends and I was blessed enough to have this opportunity to photograph her and her beautiful daughter, Cheyenne. I hope that I was able to catch a small glimpse of the great, and deep love Jess has for her daughter. So beautiful!

This is a very special book to Jess that her mom bought for Cheyenne (who’s turning one this week!). It’s in memory of Grandpa Barry.
